About this event

This hands-on workshop introduces the basic concepts of eco-printing, a beautiful natural dyeing technique that uses leaves, flowers, seeds, and bark to transfer colours and organic shapes directly onto fabric. The result is a one-of-a-kind textile, rich with the marks of nature.Participants are invited to upcycle a piece of their own clothing or fabric by transforming it through eco-printing. Please bring one light-coloured item (preferably white) made of cotton, linen, or rayon. The fabric must be washed beforehand and free of finishes or softeners to ensure the best results.During the workshop, you will learn about dyeing plants, fabric types, and the use of mordants (colour fasteners). Alongside traditional dye plants, we will also work with plants gathered from the streets, encouraging a deeper awareness of the generous and often overlooked nature that surrounds us—even in an urban environment like Metro Vancouver. This workshop is an invitation to slow down, reconnect with nature, and give new life to a garment you already own.
