Join us for a fun, recreational volleyball game that follows the Canadian Volleyball rules. Team Composition: Each team consists of 6 players on the court Recreational leagues may allow more players or rotations. Serving: The game starts with a serve from behind the backcourt line. The ball can be served underhand or overhand. A serve that touches the net but lands in the opponent's court is valid ("let serve"). Scoring: Rally scoring is used (a point is scored on every rally, regardless of which team served). Games are played to 25 points, win by 2 (some leagues cap at 27). Matches are usually best 2 out of 3 sets. Hits per Side: A maximum of 3 hits is allowed per side before the ball must cross the net. A block does not count as one of the 3 hits. Rotation: Teams rotate clockwise each time they win back the serve. Net Play: Players cannot touch the net or cross the centerline. Back-row players cannot attack the ball above the net in front of the attack line. Common Fouls Holding or “carrying” the ball. More than 3 touches per side. Stepping over the serving line. Blocking or spiking a serve.
