Creative Writing Inspired from Objects
A short story, poetry workshop based on bags of junk Fascinated by the wall of Value Village where collections of objects hang in plastic bags for the standard price of $2.99, Ricketts outlines these bags ‘bulging’ with compelling stories. In this workshop we will explore objects as powerful reminders of our live’s history and the stories that can tell those stories. What do we think of when we see a comic book, an ash tray, broken pencil or a pearl necklace. Ricketts believes that stories have a very important place in our community. Stories are so naturally triggered from objects and when we work from a collection of objects opposed to just one, we begin to understand how our stories interconnect with others and how this reminds us of our connections to each other. In this workshop we will play with the development of characters, environments, situations and plotlines triggered from objects and further this to creative writing fact, fiction and poetry. The result of this workshop could result in an exhibition of writing and objects. Drop-in $15
