Thunder in the Valley Drag Races

Thunder in the Valley returns to Port Alberni for another adrenaline-filled weekend of drag racing and tire-smoking action at Tyee Landing. Hosted by the Alberni Valley Drag Racing Association (AVDRA), this three-day event brings together racers, car enthusiasts, and spectators from across Vancouver Island and beyond for one of the region’s premier motorsports weekends. From August 7–9, 2026, experience exciting drag racing, the crowd-favourite burnout contest, incredible vehicles, and family-friendly entertainment on the Somass Lands at Tyee Landing. Event Highlights Friday Burnout Contest Starts at 6:00 PM with cash prizes awarded in multiple classes. Two Full Days of Drag Racing Racing begins at 10:00 AM on Saturday and Sunday. Cash Prizes Competitors race for prize money across multiple racing classes throughout the weekend. Family-Friendly Event Kids 12 and under receive free admission.
