PMEDICS-Basic Life Support

This course is intended for health care professionals, first responders or those going into a medical program. BLS courses use more advanced terminology and skills appropriate for the health care provider. BLS can be added as an upgrade to Intermediate First Aid for an additional cost. Who Should Take This Course? • Dentists and dental hygienists • Nurses and health care practitioners • Fire Fighters and dedicated first responder teams Content: • Scene Management & Primary Assessment o Checking for pulse • Anatomy and Physiology • CPR and Choking Procedures - Adult, children and infant – including: o Witnessed & unwitnessed cardiac arrest o Advanced pediatric concerns o Team (2-person) CPR • Automated External Defibrillation (AED) • Heart attack & angina • Stroke & transient ischemic attack (TIA) • Bag-Valve Mask (BVM) • Artificial Respiration
