SAMA Kids

SAMA is an introductory program available to all those interested in having mental, physical and spiritual well being in movements rooted in Philippines indigenous music, dance, Filipino martial arts forms and storytelling theatre and visual arts that are focused on nature. The word SAMA means same, equal and together in Indonesian, Tagalog, Malay. And in Hinduism it means chant or hymn and in Sufism it's a special ceremony of listening to sacred poetry, chanting and music and in Japanese it means honor. Basics of creative exploration, Mindanaoan movements, music and Filipino Martial arts. Instruments and sticks will be provided or you may bring your own. Deepening connections to oneself and another in Kapwa through inter-modality approaches. Participants gain understanding, development of warriorship, healing and respect for one another creative and cultural community space that honors ancestral journeys that have arrived here in Unceded Coast Salish Territories.
